It's very rare for Ritter Sport to miss completely with their seasonal bars - and anything with a hazelnut is going to come somewhere near Nutella or Ferrero. I'd expect to see this one back again this year, with the green wrapped "sugar roasted nuts" flavour being swapped out for something new.
ReplyDeleteLinds! Lovely seeing you here! 🙂
DeleteYou didn't have to qualify your statement with "seasonal" — Ritter rarely misses, period! 🎯
It's funny you mentioned the Carmelized Almonds version. I found that one to be merely "meh." However, I gifted a couple of them and both recipients loved it — one even more so than this Hazelnut one!
Ahhh but the caramelized almonds one taps into a very German tradition.
DeleteOver winter the fresh fruit sellers that line the streets in a town centre morph into traders of nuts. They'll have copper kettle type device in their stall and they'll make caramelised nuts throughout the day (almonds, cashews, hazelnuts etc). They tend to be served in a brightly coloured paper cones and are a particular feature of Christmas markets.
I too preferred the almond bar to this hazelnut one. ;)
Thanks for that picturesque bit of background information. I'll definitely keep it in mind next time I eat it — perhaps it'll help change my opinion.
ReplyDeleteIn the meantime though, I feel like I'm living in Bizarro World! Heh. 🤷♂️
